Book Cover Design
I design custom book covers from concept through final print-ready files, blending original illustration with strong typography and layout. Work typically starts with sketches and digital painting in Procreate, then moves into Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop for refined artwork and compositing, and InDesign for cover spreads and typography. The goal is a cover that reads clearly at thumbnail size, fits the genre, and still holds up as a physical object.
Castles and Palaces of Portugal: A Complete Guide
A spec travel guide built from photographs I took while hunting castles and palaces in Portugal. The cover was assembled in Photoshop: my photos for the front and back, an azulejo tile motif that runs across the wrap, and a stacked serif title meant to stay readable small. Spine, back copy, and barcode are part of the design, not an afterthought.
Pyrography for Beginners
Spec cover for a beginner’s pyrography guide. The front is built in Photoshop as a burned plaque on wood, so the title reads as the craft itself. The back uses a step image from my own instruction guide, with short copy, barcode, and price on a full wrap.
Billy the Bobcat Builds a House
Spec cover for a children’s picture book. Billy was illustrated in Procreate, then the jacket was assembled in Photoshop: a teal field, hand-lettered title split around the character, and a tool still-life on the back that echoes the story. Spine, back copy, and barcode are set so it reads as a finished print object, not just a character drawing.
